Muse Event Center (formerly Trocaderos), 107 3rd Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55401
Brazilian "Carnaval" (car-nah-VOW), the biggest celebration in the world, is coming to Minneapolis, MN once again! Led by Robert Everest’s authentic band Beira Mar Brasil, a ten-piece band with blaring horns and heart-pounding percussion, this event has become one of the most exciting Brazilian events the Midwest has to offer!
The all-ages matinee performance runs 2 PM – 5 PM. Tickets are available starting February 1st. For more information, visit http://www.rkeverest.net/beiramar.htm
You WILL dance and warm up at this event, so dress appropriately – in costume, of course! This is NOT Bossa Nova!
Special guests include:
Dandara – An exuberant and dynamic singer from Bahia, Brazil. Aside from her international festival touring, she’s an 8-year veteran with the event, and we’re excited to have her back!
Edilson Lima & Vanessa Luiz – Professional Samba dancers from São Paulo, Brazil. Back for their fifth year, they’re bringing even more energy – and more elaborate costumes, too!
Goretti – A skilled Brazilian artisan. Along with having authentic Carnaval masks for sale, she will also invite children of all ages to create their own masks!
Drumheart – The vibrant Twin Cities-based percussion ensemble from the Women’s Drum Center.
Omulu Capoeira Guanabara – A high-flying Capoeira (Afro-Brazilian Martial Arts) act. They perform at the start of the event, so arrive early!
Arthur Almquist – A nationally-recognized face/body painter. Back for his third year, he’s ready to decorate you just like the colorful characters in Rio De Janeiro’s Samba Parade!
